Discussion Thread for Season 3 Episode 1: A Bar Fight Walks into the Justice Center

The American justice system is the most fair and equitable justice system the world has ever seen.

If you're calling out hyperbole, then this is equally (if not far more) hyperbolic.

Yes, America has a far superior justice system than those of China, Iran and North Korea of the world, but in the same vein as /u/skieroos below, it's more meaningful to compare your country to other developed and prosperous liberal democracies than some of the world's worst human rights abusers.

This episode was an hour long, yet I don't think there was any meaningful demonstration of 'justice' at any point in Anna's case. From her abusers waking free, her arrest and detention, the strange haggling and negotiating between prosecution and defence, to her pleading guilty to an incident that even her 'victim' essentially acknowledged to have been an unintentional accident, to her losing her job and entering a spiral of debt...

And as Sarah wryly ted, this was cited as an example of the system working well.
