Fuck dude, you're the third person now that's replied to me trying to make it sound like I'm supporting the decision the DM in the OP made. Did you even read the fucking comment chain before posting this?

Literally every single comment I've made in this thread has made that perfectly fucking clear.

I didn't say that a deity could steal a cleric from another one.

Clerics are worshipers by choice.

THIS is what I was challenging. The PHB makes it plain and clear and explicitly states that a character can be conscripted into being a cleric by a deity, willing or no. And I provided a quote saying as much.

"Clerics are worshipers by choice" is not necessarily true by RAW. That's all I'm saying.
