It's not exactly the up-date itself that is the issue. It's a case of "the boy who cried wolf". Shane has not been a very good sport about his past projects. He's made many empty promises and has pushed the people who helped him build his channel away, simply because they started to criticize his methods/content, instead of just praising it.

This is why people don't hold out much hope (or any) that what Shane is saying will actually be what he does. The assumptions are based on his past behavior of doing the same thing over and over, only to once again, disappointment his audience.

Thus why, a lot of people are just, shit, over it.
