Dumb Questions, Tips, and Welcoming the Newbies - /r/Vita Weekly Novice Thread (2015.05.17)

Yo! Thought I'd drop a few words on how I came to get a Vita recently, and what I've been doing with it so far.

Two or three months ago, I was at a con with a friend. On his initiative, we went to a Danganronpa panel - I hadn't ever heard anything at all about Danganronpa until then, but went anyway. I thought it was some sort of nice slice-of-life anime game thing, maybe some Persona-style stuff thrown in there. Well, turned out that's not the case at all.

So he told me a bit about the premise of the game, and I thought it just sounded horrible. Not like something I'd like at all. I'd probably just get scared and sad. ...And care a lot about the characters. And get really invested. For some reason I decided then and there that I'd get a Vita, basically just for Danganronpa.

In the following weeks, I purchased copies of Danganronpa, Danganronpa 2, and Persona 4 Golden. In retrospect, this was a bit of a strange move, since... y'know... I didn't have anything to play them on. No regrets, though! For a bit after that, I saved up to buy the console.

I'm a sucker for special editions, so I figured I might as well get a special edition Vita while I'm at it. I'm also a sucker for cute, bright things, so I settled on the Mercuryduo PS Vita. Finally ordered it from Japan, it took forever to arrive (in the future I'll use play-asia instead...), but it finally did! And it's freakin' beautiful!

After that, I had a week off, so I spent that week pretty much doing nothing but playing Danganronpa. And HOLY WOW. I've almost never gotten that intensely into something. It was my life for that time. No exaggeration. Rarely has anything made me feel so strongly.

About a month has passed since I finished Danganronpa, and since then I've also finished Touch My Katamari. I'm holding off on playing Danganronpa 2 and Persona 4 until next time I've got a lot of time off - I want to have the opportunity to get really engrossed in those two.

And I know that when I do, it'll be fantastic.
