effective cat deterrent?

I hate cats. Don't get me wrong, I'm never going to hurt a cat as I'm not a monster, but I really hate cats. I hate irresponsible cat owners more though. And these I wish I could lamp between the eyes with a shovel.

I've found water to be the most effective to deterring them.

Story time: There's a cat who lives me who would shit on my bbq cover all the time, like it'd pretend to dig up the cover, take a massive shit, and then try cover it up, like they do in sand/litter, but it was obviously annoying and stinky. But even with photos and video of the cat doing its business, the owner would deny it, and just dismissed it as cats being cats, and how everyone loves cats so I can just live with her cat too. This was on the neighbourhood Facebook group, and was under another post complaining about this cat.

So I said I've started spraying it with a water pistol now when I see it on my property, and she went bananas at me. It worked though - cat no longer shits on my property. If it comes back, I'll be buying a trap and sending it to the Rangers everytime it's caught. I don't actually want to resort to this, as I don't WFH, so don't really want an animal caged for 12 hours if it gets caught during the day.

I did try the buzzer deterrents too, but save your money on those, they buzz, but cats don't care. (There are 3 or 4 roaming cats in my neighbourhood, but only the one was a nuisance).

I might have to look into the motion activated sprayers mentioned in other comments.

Fuck that woman and fuck her annoying arse cat.
