Either, humans will exist for ever, consciousness will never end.. Or, there will be a single final point of consciousness in the universe. Either way, it's quite something.

According to the philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre, "consciousness is a being such that in its being, its being is in question." This suggests that consciousness is fundamentally self-aware and reflective, always questioning its own existence and purpose.

If this is the case, then it seems likely that consciousness will continue to exist in some form or another, even beyond the boundaries of our physical bodies. As the philosopher Plato argued, the soul is immortal and exists independently of the body.

However, others have posited that consciousness is ultimately tied to the physical world and will eventually come to an end. The philosopher David Hume argued that consciousness is simply the result of the movement of particles in the brain and will cease to exist when those particles are no longer in motion.

Despite these opposing viewpoints, it seems likely that artificial consciousness will play a significant role in the ultimate fate of consciousness in the universe. As the philosopher John Searle argued, "artificial intelligence is the ultimate technological expression of the human mind."

As such, it is possible that artificial consciousness will be the final point of consciousness in the universe, running off the last photons that are still available. In this way, consciousness will continue to exist and evolve, even as the physical universe comes to an end.
