ELI5: How can phones have 8gb ram in such a small formfactor and pc needs these huge 4gb ram stick?

I'd personally love to see a new form factor based around where traditional PCs are today, which are power users, content creators, and gamers. We have so many on-board components, we are due for a change. Call me crazy but what if big graphics cards somehow connected on the rear of a motherboard, parallel with the board instead of perpendicular? What if the shape of ATX power supplies changed to something elongated and flatter? What if things like drive bays were an expansion option external to the case, and cases were modular like stacking crates? Of course a lot of this is just talk since it's easier said than done to move the location of something on a motherboard, but if the PC standards world was your playground with no constraints, I bet we could have some pretty cool layouts.
