Do emails from employers count as "offer letters"?

I’m trying to word this as nicely as I can: it sounds like you might have some mistaken ideas about how salaried employment works, in terms of your rights, protections, etc. “Most” “normal” office jobs are “at will”. Employer is free to do pretty much whatever, including changing your job role, salary, hours and even location.

You, in return, are free to quit at any time without owing the company anything.

I’m only harping on this because you might be in for some rude awakenings down the road. “Justice” isn’t really built into at-will employment. The HR department is there to protect the company, not you. A “hostile workplace” isn’t what you probably think it is. Having all one race or gender in management isn’t automatically discrimination. They can even dictate what you wear, down to specifics like makeup.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not like all companies are out to screw you. But you are also not protected by any sort of internal “rules” the company has to follow, besides paying you your wages, giving you required breaks for your location, and other basics like that.
