Enchantment, charms, and glamour.

I've read quite a lot about this, my religion warns and warns and warns us of black magic/spells/evil eye/charms/talismans etc.

How does it work? I'm not sure how they actually do it but I have seen 'spells/magick/talismans' etc that are written on paper, tiny writing usually in Arabic, lots of numbers and shapes (symbols, arrows and grids) I think they put the name of the person to be 'bewitched' or the name of the persons mother and they use some sort of personal thing to the person to make the 'spell' stronger. Then it's rolled up and often tied with string (the knots are part of the magic) - just like magicians today 'blow on knots' to do the handkerchief magic

This is obviously intentional. We are also warned about un-intentionally giving evil eye by being jealous of others or thinking bad thoughts about them so we are warned and warned not to think this way in case it unintentionally spell casts.

If we believe we have been victim of spells/magick or even possession there is something called Ruqyah, it's powerful and protection verses from the Quran. You don't need a third party like say Catholic exorcism, just do it yourself - unless of course it was something too strong for you to handle then you would get help from someone more experienced. It also works for things like sleep paralysis, I had this hell of a lot but since doing Ruqyah it stopped. Also I have two little grandkids who both had night terrors a lot. My daughter is atheist and totally didn't believe this would work to protect the kids but she let me go ahead and do it. I just played the Ruqyah tape on the landing between their bedroom doors while they were at school, so no one knew except me and my daughter but to this day maybe 2 years later the kids very rarely have night terrors.
