Episode Discussion - Shameless - 5x12 "Love Songs (in the Key of Gallagher)" - SEASON FINALE

Not nearly as good a finale as last season, but I think things ended as best they could. Given how much a a clusterfuck this season has been, this is the best we could hope for.

I'm SO FUCKING HAPPY that Fiona didn't end up with either one of them. She doesn't deserve either guy and it's good to see that she turned away literally every man who would have loved her (JimmySteve, Gus, Sean, Mike). Now she can start over fresh and be an actual human character again instead of a bad decision with legs.

Cameron and Noel's acting was fucking STELLAR tonight. Like most of you, I'm pretty upset with Ian's decision to leave Mickey (and his subsequent disinterest in him his attempted murder), but realistically, they had no business ending up happy. It would have thrown off everything the show built up. Ian is soooooooo fucked up. Like I didn't think it would get that bad. I hope they can work things out next year.

Debbie actually impressed me this season. She kept me interested when I never thought I would be. Can't wait to see how she and Fiona handle this pregnancy. Hopefully she keeps it!

I'm hoping that Kev and V's drama is out to rest. I liked that they stirred the pot with them this season, but it's time for them to get on back to their normal spot - as excellent comic relief.

Lip disappointed me this season. His story had zero closure. All the finally did was open up new questions and scenarios that I almost guarantee they won't follow up on next year. I think he could have been great with Amanda (going into S5 I was SO pro Lip & Mandy, so that's a big change). Funny that Amanda essentially became the same kind of girl she was hiding from. I hope she stays.

Frank and Bianca affected me much more than I ever thought it would. From the minute they initially hooked up at the hospital, I was constantly on edge with her. So many close calls! Her death was peaceful and beautiful. Interesting to see Frank angrily yelling at a beautiful sunrise for the second season finale in a row. Also, I laughed my ASS off at the matching gunshot wounds!

That final scene in the van with Lip, Ian and Frank was great though "She's gone, boys. She's gone." On to the next thing Frankie. The boy's smiles at the end were a nice ending.

All in all, I liked the season, I guess. Some really fun moments and some great drama here and there. Still SUPER pissed that they just dropped the gentrification/lesbian feud storyline - it would have been great - but we did get some great stuff out of most of the characters (Frank, Ian and Mickey, Debbie, Carl, Sammi, Kev & V)

Looking forward to season 6 already!

Let's hope Fiona finds herself, Ian finds some help, Lip finds some normalcy, K&V find reconciliation, Mickey finds himself alive, Debbie finds a sale on diapers, Carl find his way out of Juvie, Sammi finds her way into a coffin and Frank finds himself a tall cold one (on someone else's tab of course).
