The escalation of moderation on /R/Cynicalbrit

I've tried to stay on topic. Here's the good:

  1. because this is an online community, every time TB gets upset with this place, everyone here gets made to feel like shit. It seems the mods are trying to avoid that.

  2. When TB gets upset, some of his other viewers start to feel harassing people over their even slightly negative opinions is ok. It seems the mods are trying to avoid that.

Here's the problem: this sub was created to discuss TB's content. TB has made it clear, I believe, that he is no longer ok with that. I think he would prefer (perhaps preferred from the beginning) that we discussed what his content is about, not actually anything he does. But if that's the case, there's no point in this subs existence, as subs about what his content is about already exist. TB doesn't want people to talk about him, but unfortunately, his brand is based on both his technical skills and his persona. So people discuss him. It makes finding a balance (especially now) difficult. Exactly what can we say about TB or his content before someone either tells him about it (slightly off topic, but I'm convinced every person who points out someone on the internet being negative to TB is trying to make him feel worse. I honestly do not believe those people have his best interests at heart, I think they want to see him hurt) or he discovers it himself and gets pissed. When have we, as viewers, crossed a line? When has TB, as someone who has been given status whether he asked for it or not, crossed a line?

There's no right answer, but the mods are trying to do what they can on our side to prevent another shit storm. That's what I think is going on. It's just nearly impossible to actually prevent a shit storm as long as any talk about any of it is allowed at all.
