Why is Etsy charging my customers sales tax, then giving ME the sales tax?

NO. that has not gone into effect (yet) all states have varying levels of retail sales tax - Delaware has none.

You will see different amounts from each state Etsy collects from. So fat they do not collect from all states yet, as those states have not passed the collection laws needed for retails sales taxes. If Etsy drills down the retail sales tax by location, they might be a different amount there too - there are city overlays and such. Example (I'm using food) to eat-in may cost you 6% but get the same as a take-out order might cost you 7.5%. Etsy abides by the regulations required by each state.

As I rarely sell my items in my home state, I do not pay local retail sales tax. (I do collect sales tax when I attend Comic Cons & such and remit them to the state I sold them).

Does this help?
