I mean this with no malice, and I’ve been poor my whole life, but I agree with the poster above you did sound extremely jealous in the OP and I don’t think seething was a misused adjective in this case. I think you discussed an appropriate contrasting experience with your bf in an inappropriate way, for the wrong reasons. Not the end of the world and just like you maybe have something’s to teach him about what life is like for other people, don’t think there isn’t anything you can’t learn from him about the way he grew up. Sometimes having a close relationship with someone who has more opportunities and money can rub off on you in a good way and show you it’s possible to have more than the bare minimum in life. Seems like the two of you can balance eachother out.
