To play devils advocate, the development of the third world could be considered a much more dangerous fantasy than a Brexit.

Human population growth over the past couple of centuries has been explosive, to say the least. Our level of consumption in the developed world is insane. And global resource infrastructure is completely unsustainable.

And you want to vastly increase consumption?

No matter what we do, mass population displacement is inevitable.

The world is running out of water.

The callous pragmatist in me thinks the writing is on the wall. If you didn't win the development lottery by now your fucked.

China is a blackhole.

Ethiopa's population is growing faster than the ability of the country to feed it's people. Our efforts to help have just made things worse.

Getting out of freedom of movement before the situation escalates further is not the worst idea.
