Even more Alexis news: Growing confidence in Paris that PSG will sign Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal in the summer

The comment starting this chain is this:

If this is true this probably rules out Wenger to PSG if Wenger was to leave.

I replied saying:

No top club would hire Wenger. He's not achieved anything impressive for over a decade.

The context (impressive for top clubs) is setup in the first sentence. Top clubs don't actually care if they occasionally drop out of the top 4 if it means they are regularly winning things nor do they care about saving money.

Wenger's performance (top 4 for ~20 years, low spend between 2007-2013) is only impressive in the context of clubs who aren't aiming to win such as us, Everton, Liverpool and Spurs.

Imagine we were having a discussion about who should replace Wenger. Someone suggests Howe or Martinez and I reply saying they've achieved nothing impressive to suggest they would be desirable as Arsenal manager. You then reply that actually what they've achieved is impressive because of the clubs/money/players they've had.

Nobody disputes that keeping Arsenal in the CL Ro16 for over a decade whilst not spending that much isn't impressive per se, it's just not relevant in the context.
