look dawg, im extremely leftist, so seeing this whole sub equate a fandom being displeased with the way amazon is handling lotr to just being racist is fucking lazy. the show doesn’t look good, as a die hard lotr fan, im not excited at all. it has nothing to do with mary sues or diversity in the casting, it has everything to do with the fact that a giant mega corp like amazon has you all so fucking desperate to win woke points that you dont understand that occasionally you’re being played. making something that looks infinitely worse than the original lotr trilogy and then immediately crying racism when it rightfully gets criticized for being a half assed attempt at a cash grab on the coat tails of GOT. its not about race, a small subset of shitstick fans may be racist, that doesn’t negate the fact that everything about this show is generic, safe and frankly lib af. and not in a good way. “lets put black people in our show to solve systemic racism and ignore the fact that we should probably pay reparations, also we are amazon so itd be cool if you ignore our historically shit treatment of black employees, also you are racist of you think anything we make with black people is bad”. literally fuck this circle jerk i know better than everyone nonsense. they’re destroying beloved media by pumping it full of cheap cgi action sequences and things that literally never happened in the book, while being completely morally bankrupt of its message.
