[Fan Ship] Concept: Anvil Aerospace HYGEIA – Mobile Medical and Repair Facility

Really cool, but definitely needs some work, the lighting surrounding (and pinning in) the landing pads needs to go away, repair arms and lights from the repair ships would be more than enough lighting.

I would also shift the landing pads further back, and put the cockpit and repair station all in one setup at the front, essentially blocking off potential debris etc. from hitting ships on the landing pads, and allowing either one larger or two smaller ships to land on the pad. Have the repair arms come up from the sides of the ship, and also be sturdy enough to grab and guide the ships onto the pad if they are immobilized, which also allows them to be used on the side-docked larger ships.

Speaking of immobilized ships, they need a tractor beam, perhaps towards the middle of the ship behind the now larger combined pad. It would be fairly heavy duty, able to pull larger ships into range where they can be manipulated further by the arms.

On the subject of the smaller ships, their design is strange to me, but cool looking at least, I'm not sure why they undock from their support frames, doesn't seem to serve a purpose. But it can, they should have that as the core pilot pod, and have interchangeable body frames depending on the mission needs.

Examples could be a true repair module, with a capture arm and a couple smaller side arms that can be used to manipulate metal and soldier/cut through it. It would also come with a storage space where the pilot would store his own repair equipment to be used for more finesse EVA repairs. This system could also do temp repairs on ships unreachable by the Hygeia until full repairs can be done, or even used to rip open a derelict ship in order to get to trapped passengers inside, increasing the cockpit size a bit would allow for emergency transport of one or two passengers in the event of impending danger.

The other primary module would be the rescue module, which would have a small ambulance sized attached area, as well as emergency medical gear, allowing the module to be used to do on-site emergency medical care, and also having the room to have all the ships collectively work as transport vessels to pull passengers, injured or otherwise, off an endangered ship the Hygeia again cannot reach.

Other examples of module attachments could be a tug module, with primarily a large engine and a tractor beam, as well as a battle module with guns and rockets added on. As long as they are designed efficiently and compact, perhaps even able to shrink down for storage, I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.

Other than that my only other concerns right now are how you're supposed to get injured bed-ridden patients from the medical area to the rehab area. As well as the placement of the eject pods being at the rear of the ship, as it is an area very likely to be assaulted first by enemy fighters, as well as a pretty far run from the cockpit, repair center and other areas of the ship. Perhaps have it trade places with one of the forward storage areas?
