As with all things if you can't speak nicely on something you should not be speaking on it at all.

Say for instance the AO3 mods deeply dislike Marvel. They should not be removing every Marvel discussion over a personal opinion. The space should be dictated by what the Whole of The Community likes and what is or is not healthy for the larger group. There are many subs on my personal interests like Training Dogs but ONE SUB is over moderated by someone who has 0 actual qualifications about training dogs and doesn't understand that their immediate shut down of all discussion they deemed unhelpful, like telling the dog no and refusing it attention is a very common R+ tactic that will get removed for being "abusive".

This practice doesn't help anyone. It only makes the Mod in question a dictator in an Echo Chamber.

Just go to r/Fanfiction that's for Anti's and if you only read there you would honestly believe that a vast majority of Fandom is Anti's and if you only read here you would believe they are all Pro Shippers.
