Fans that do not simply support their local team; what ultimately caused you to choose your club?

I’m from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) but I support Internacional from Porto Alegre. When I was growing up my family was “divided”. Half of them were supporting Botafogo and the other half were supporting Flamengo. Botafogo at that time was one of the worst clubs in Brazil and even my grandad told me to not support them because they were shit (he still supports them and is now suffering because theh just got relegated). I always hated Flamengo because 99% of the time they win something is because of poor refereeing (yeh) or they somehow won the lottery and got $1737mi to spend on players (and referees). So at that time, Internacional was a good club to me because they weren’t so bad and they never ever had a referee helping them out. The supporters were amazing as well, I remember watching the games and going crazy just by watching the supporters during the game.

And I support West Ham.. ⚒ First time I heard about West Ham was when Tevez and Mascherano left Corinthians to join West Ham. I found it super cool but didn’t start supporting them until 2009-2010. 2009-2010 was the first time we got cable tv at home so I started watching Premier League games. First game I watched was Fulham 1-3 West Ham, I think Carlton Cole scored twice and the great Piquionni scored the other one. From there I kinda felt in love with West Ham. Suffered when they got relegated, was super happy when we got promoted and realized my dream in 2015 when I went to a West Ham game at the Boleyn!

I have this thing for Botafogo but nothing compared to what I feel for Internacional or West Ham. Just hope Botafogo gets 2nd place after Inter but well, Inter is never the first and Botafogo is far far away from 2nd
