Father's Day - Tell me about your dad

I’m so sorry for the pain you may feel these past and next couple days. I too, feel the sadness.

I lost my father almost 7 years ago. It’s painful to say 7 years, as it feels like just yesterday, but also feels like a million years ago. I appreciate you asking us to tell you about our fathers. Many friends and family do not ask, I feel they think this topic is off limits. But I wish they would. I love talking about him.

I have many favorite memories about my dad. My first one, he was not much of a swimmer. He never got into a swimsuit to swim with us (my brothers and I) but on one particular hot day, he took us to the beach, and he sat in the car. Looking back, he was probably sitting in the car drinking beer LOL. But as my brother and I were too busy playing, all of a sudden somebody grabbed me from under the water. I turn around and it’s my dad. In JEANS. Not jean shorts, in FULL jeans. I was so happy to see him in the water with us. It’s something I will NEVER forget.

My second favorite memory, all the times he laid in bed with me until I fell asleep. He always fell asleep first, and I just remember laying my head on his chest, and listening to his heartbeat, and trying to synchronize my breaths to his. I never could, as my child lungs were not as big as his adult man lungs lol. I wish to hear his heartbeat and breath again.

❤️
