Ok, but the suggestion is that black fathers do not stick around... suggesting that this is a choice or that this problem is as simple as black men simply choosing not to leave.

The problem is more complex than that including the fact that black men are more likely to be incarcerated on minor drug charges. The middle class white communities would be reeling as well if college kids who toked up were incarcerated at the same rate as black kids.

Furthermore, with poor educational opportunities, poor nutrition, poor career prospects make it hard for young black men to contribute to their family's well being and because they are disproportionately likely to have a record in particular because of point #1, this means career opportunities are even harder to come by.

Furthermore, access to healthcare, abortion, contraception, health education matter. All of these are diminished in the poor black communities leading to hire teen pregnancy rates which likely correlate to absentee fathers.

The reality is that disenfranchised populations are often the canaries in the coal mine. As the middle class is eroded, career opportunities shrink, education is degraded, income inequality worsens the middle class families, particularly the white middle class will join black and latino families.

If wages for the middle class have been stagnant and social mobility is falling apart, opiates are a growing epidemic, well paying stable jobs a historical footnote, befits cut and with them access to health care, then we will see increased social dysfunction in white, black, latino, asian families...

When the majority joins the social dysfunction this is where things become dangerous and you see fringe ideologies rise up.

But its ok, laugh at the single black dad jokes... while the middle class collectively eats shit.
