[FEEDBACK] Herb (Sci-Fi/Family, 114 pages)

Thanks for taking the time to read my script! I'm so relieved that you don't think it's a hot mess. Now that both of you have mentioned the dialogue, I'll definitely get to work on that. I'll take your skepticism as a compliment haha. To be more accurate, this is my first completed script. I've outlined two others, but I got so frustrated I never finished them.

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear that you feel Herb is a complicated character. All I can say to that point is that I took Andrew Stanton's Ted-talk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxDwieKpawg) to heart and used that as a guideline for Herb. For this script (it was a bit different for the last two that I didn't finish), the characters definitely came before the script. My initial premise had an alien arrive in a ship with a message saying something along the lines of "We'll be back in 5 years." The entire world awaits the arrival of more aliens in a huge festival and Herb sits eagerly awaiting his kind. The day passes and people slowly leave until Herb is the last one left. That didn't make this draft, but his loneliness guided his character and things took off from there. Thanks again for the kind words and feedback!
