“I’m a very hard worker. I‘ve always worked multiple jobs and I’m always the first to pick up extra shifts.”
He brings his focus from his computer back to me and taps his fingers on top of the desk, a gold ring on his right hand. “And perfectionism is your weakness, am I right?” He asks with an eye roll.
I tilt my head confused by his condescending tone. “I don’t think perfectionism is a weakness,” I quip. “There’s nothing wrong with striving to be the best at something and working at it until you are.”
He smirks. “You like working multiple jobs to reach an unattainable goal of being a famous artist?”
I bite my tongue ignoring his belittlement. “I never said I wanted to be a famous artist,” I respond with a smile, “I would be happy selling any of my work one day, but I’m not comfortable with that kind of attention. I would rather sell my work privately in a small gallery where very few people would know who I am. I work multiple jobs to help my brother not because I’m a starving artist.”
