For those who got a PS4 for Bloodborne: was it worth it?

I didn't buy a Playstation for Bloodborne, but for someone who has very recently bought the game and enjoyed it, I'll tell you what I think of it and you can decide for yourself whether or not it's worth it.

I haven't played any of the previous Souls games, but two weeks ago I bought Bloodborne on a whim when I was in the mood for a challenge and wanted to see if I could take on a "Souls" game. I was skeptical at first since I'm more of a casual gamer, but I really wanted to try and push myself and see if I could do it. Once I began the game, I kept getting my ass kicked again and again and again, yet I never at all felt frustrated. The game is made in such a way that it wants you to succeed. It's extremely addicting, and every shortcut I find and every Boss I kill just adheres to that. I've grown so much as a gamer since the little time I've had Bloodborne, and I am so, so happy I purchased it. I'm not finished with it yet, but I'll tell you it's been one of the most rewarding gaming experiences I've ever had.

The atmosphere, first off, is fucking beautiful. Each and every area is haunting, gorgeous, and complements the other areas so well that I couldn't even imagine the game being without them. The NPC's are full of life (even when they themselves aren't), and all of them add to the game without taking anything away from the experience itself. Their side quests are meaningful, and the game's handy Auto-save feature makes you really think about your decisions. You're plopped into an unknown world with a very vague goal, and nothing is ever made clear, and in the midst of it all you can either triumph and help others along the way or send each and every one of them to their doom. The enemies/Bosses are all varied and unique (and occasionally downright horrifying), and the soundtrack is beautiful. In Bloodborne, there is no filler, no boring grind, nothing that feels like your time is being wasted. The combat is brutally fun, the bosses are unique, difficult, and extremely memorable, and everytime I play the game I find myself wasting away hours in front of my PS4 without even realizing it.

Bloodborne is definitely worth a purchase, in my opinion. While I can't say it's worth a ~$400 one (that's entirely up to you), it's a must-have exclusive if you're willing to shell out the money for a PS4. It's difficult, challenging, extremely rewarding, and one of the best games I have played in a long, long time.

Note: I would also recommend purchasing The Last Of Us Remastered if you do end up getting a PS4. It's one of my all-time favorite games, and like Bloodborne, it's an absolute must-have.
