Former atheists of Reddit, what made you turn to religion?

The standard, I assume. Raised Christian, but never really latched onto it. You hear about everything, but I don’t think the relationship with God element was there too greatly. Had a teacher that taught me the basic arguments of atheism, and nihilism to an extent, so I latched onto atheism for a while. A little more than a year ago my very Christian (Baptist) present girlfriend entered my world. Originally, I thought the difference in opinion could work, but over time I realized I’d just be making her worse with what I believed. After a while, she showed me the world through her eyes. That woman’s optimism and belief in the good of mankind is second to none, and I quickly realized that the only reason she was that way was because of her faith. I got a new sense of the world, and a newfound appreciation of it. I’m still struggling with my beliefs, but I feel like God shines best little moments of comfort that we take for granted , though. Everyday tiny things that just make everything make sense and feel OK. If nothing else, I feel like this is a good road to go down. (TL:DR, a girl is why)
