Why would Sony hand over 75 million plus users to Xbox and give away an advantage they have. Why would they bump up their competitors user numbers for them

they wouldn't because sony still has more exclusives so people would still buy a playstation over an xbox especially when they don't need an xbox to play with their friends on xbox

if xbox started making good exclusives to entice people to buy an xbox then sony would have to make even better exclusives to get people to stay with playstation

They then would have the exclusives people would buy the console for and no need to buy a PlayStation to play with friends.

if xbox had good exclusives then sony would have to make better ones and then people wouldn't go to xbox because sony would still have better exclusives so no need to go buy an xbox when you have the better exclusives and the ability to play with your friends on xbox when there is cross play

They would also be playing the games in better quality on the X.

then sony would have to really ramp up their exclusive game if people were thinking of getting an xbox for the multiplat games and also sony would have to make a more powerful playstation as well to play the games better than on xbox

There isn't a likely scenario it would be good for PlayStation. There is a likely scenario it would be good for Xbox.

it is the same situation for both each company would have more reason to try and outdo eachother and try to get the consumer to buy their console over the other companies console
