Free Talk Sunday

Context: married into a familiar in Southern California, oldest of 3 girls. Spend a lot of time at their house by the pool.

Yesterday middle sister, who is approaching 26 this month and obviously still at home, was complaining to the Mom about how unfair and ridiculous housing costs are (duh) and how hard it is to do as a secretary/paralegal (duh). I think worst part of it all is that this girls life ha been on auto pilot forever; no goals and no ambition

I’ve known these girls for like almost a decade at this point, and this one in particular didn’t give the slightest shit about career or making money until basically right now. It’s amazing to me that so many people attend 4 years of college, then work for a few years, and finally realize how important work/income is and start complaining about it. I was constantly telling her in college what to do to learn industries and find a lucrative career, and she still graduated without a job and moved into the highly technical area of a secretary.

Just really grinds my gears that someone can receive the right advice at the right time, completely ignore it, and then years later complain about outcomes. It’s just so lazy and entitled. And the worst part is hearing the Mom agree with her!

I love my new family, but sometimes I really hate these people
