[Fresh Album] The Avalanches - Wildflower

Initial feelings after one listen, so these are hot takes:

Whoever chose to make Frankie Sinatra the lead single is a dumbass. Song is better heard in the album, but it still feels off and kinda terrible. The music video was also an obvious attempt to match the incredible video for Since I Left You (I will go to my grave arguing for it's supremacy over Frontier Psychiatrist), but just fell flat.

Honestly, not too crazy about Danny Brown here. Wozard of Iz is great until he appears and Danny sounds good on it, but his lyrics kinda feel out of place to the vibe.

I enjoy the other features, with special mention to The Noisey Eater I loved Biz Markie on that track. His classic humor was on full display and it was silly and childish and great.

Saturday Night Inside Out is the first appearance of Father John Misty anywhere, including his own records, where I have not wanted to punch him

Initial rating: 8/10. Honestly don't think this will (or ever can) match Since I Left You in my opinion, but I'm shocked by how great this is. It'll get better with more listens. Second best "we've been waiting 15+ years for this shit" record of the decade
