this is a common problem with translations. because language is very complex there can be a huge number of reasons for something not being translated exactly.

Directly translated it would be "Chuleta Polvoriento" or "Terron en Polvo". Anyone can see this isnt as cool as "crater catastrofico". I think they just went for the best descriptive name that also "sounds cool".

when translating a phrase, there is always a possibility that it has some sort of slang meaning, or reference to social or cultural meanings. Im not at all saying this is the case here though.

Good example of this would be Colgate toothpaste. It doesnt sell well in spanish speaking ccountries. mostly because "colgate" means literally "hang yourself" in spanish.
