Fury over student Lough house plans - “Student developments are suffocating residential areas of the city and choking the life out of once-vibrant parishes and communities, it has been claimed

Unless you fight for safeguards when a student facility is built near your home you are literally guaranteed loud music between 9-12pm and then when they return at about 3am until around 5am.

By putting up a fight, these developments hire adequate security, shut down load parties and don't allow their apartments to be used as a after hours party venue. And if a student accommodation doesn't have these measures it becomes a strong pull for the loudest of students .

There was a lot of talk between UCC and the locals on measures to stop anti-social behaviour. Every RAG week UCC give the locals a card with numbers to phone if trouble arises, this year they removed the Gards number from it apparently soured relations extremely.

I honestly think hearing stories of colleges expulsions for anti-social behaviour will increase quite a bit in the next few years. And all because locals have this insane notion that if a student moves in nearby they are still entitled to sleep just like the parents of the few loud gobshites who live out in Balligobog expect

This development will get built but it will have a zero tolerance policy on noise and guard 24/7.
