Got incredibly lucky today! Scored a 1842-D(Dahlonega) Coronet $2.50 at an auction today. For once, I think the terrible pics actually helped me! Mintage: 4,643..Survival Estimate: 80

I didn't take that as being mean at all. The description mentioned that it was an 1842 $2.50, but the title didn't, so without actually clicking on the lot for sale and reading more into it, you wouldn't have even known. In regards to the mint mark, on the reverse it hard to make it out (and you can't make out the entire mark) but you can see right above the "1/2" a vertical line which would've only been for the Dahlonega mint, as the only other two mints were the Philadelphia (no mint mark) and the New Orleans mint (O). Being that I could make out the vertical line were a mint mark should be immediately tipped me off that was from the Dahlonega, Georgia mint because a vertical line in that spot is impossible otherwise.
