I got lessons because I thought I needed help with my driver

I was the same handicap when I figured it out for myself and then it just dropped because I was able to get complete rounds where I could drive it safely in play and then wouldn't get in trouble either on the approach. So two putt pars or easy up and downs all day.

My pro made some off the cuff comment just talking about another golfer and it ended up really helping me. I started putting much more pressure at address on my lead foot with every club but driver. I used to take shallow divots even with wedges and then suddenly my quality of strike completely changed and my ball flight significantly changed as well. Even with 3W, I would be putting a ton of pressure on my front foot but just a touch less than with a wedge.

For driver, I did the same idea but to the back foot. Also, just started swinging as hard as I could. My AoA went to about +3 or better and added 25+ yards of carry.

No actual changes to what I think about in my swing. I also focused hard on making sure my ankles, knees, hips, and shoulders are all square. Just those set up adjustments were huge -- a complete before/after to my game.
