Groundhog Day For A Black Man

Black people are simultaneously unfairly discriminated & punished by police & the criminal justice system just as they, specifically black men, are disproportionately commiting violent acts that would lead to police interactions & processing through the criminal justice system. It's complex and the OP you're responding to shouldn't be downvoted on his premise. Perhaps delivery, but he's right on the main point.

The entire skit was that he was literally just trying to live his life and no matter what he did he was shot...

The thing is, innocent black men by and large are not likely to be shot by the police like the skit and current media suggests. The media has scaled this specific issue out of proportion. They are more likely to be unfairly engaged and harassed, yes, but if ~300/1200 police killings per year are black people and there's tens of millions of black people, then we should understand they are more likely to die from a long list of things other than via cop.

Do I think we need massive police reformation in this country? Absolutely, but as far as police killings are concerned, it's hard to tell precisely what number of police killings of black men are because of racism vs. the violent crimes some have committed. Video can help in specific cases, but for every 1 you see there's another 25 cases you don't.

The interesting thing about this is white people, numerically, are more often victims of this, but that gets skirted by the same people who make the point that white people, numerically, are the biggest recipients of welfare when arguing with people criticizing black people's relationship with welfare. Personally I find the selective imagery by the media to be a primary reason why white people aren't as engaged with the issue because when they boil it down to an issue purely about race, as opposed to police abuse as a whole, what comes across is that the total number of police killings are basically fine, we just need to fine tune the percentages.
