Groups who did better then expected and groups that did worse

Well Itzy blew up on debut. So they had a lot of hype and discussion.

Txt, people were really interested in their debut because of the big hit association(don't come for me we barely knew anything about them before debut, we all wanted to check out BH new group). I do think most casuals fell off after that though, and they slowly built up over the last year and a half and are doing great.

I wasn't there for Skz debut but I remember being a fan in 2019 the fandom did seem pretty insular and people only widely talked about them after GM. So I guess the hype went down after debut even though they released bangers. People may have liked their music but weren't seriously into them.

Aespa comes on the heel of the Irene controversy and the whole ai concept discussion so they had a lot of eyes on them.

Treasure, I mean plenty of people checked out their debut but a lot of people didnt become serious fans. Idk I would think their trajectory will be similar to txt and skz but they are off to an even better start as far as sales go. As far as Korea goes I think most people don't even know yg debuted a new group. Especially being a BG and the 2019 yg had. With hype maybe it's the songs just aren't catchy to be long lasting faves of people generally.

And expectations it depends on whose expectations we're talking about. I'm pretty sure yg always intended the bg physical sales slow build up like a svt/nct. I think treasure is more than meeting their expectations selling 250k each for their first 2 single albums and 210k so far for the third released a week ago. They want treasure having million seller albums in a few years, something most yg groups aren't known for. If they were focusing on being digital domestic monsters they would've had a completely different concept and music. Idk I think people are comparing them too much to their seniors expecting them to do the same things they did. We're just in a different time, circumstances and strategy.

I think Treasure will be more talked about, at least among I-fans if they have a breakout song universally loved by them. Which is totally possible as its only been three months since their debut.
