[GUARDIAN] NSW police breached body-worn camera policies during shooting death of Indigenous man, coroner finds

I'm sorry but suggesting that people just "hand themselves in to the police station" is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard.

If they were the type to hand themselves in to the police station, they probably wouldn't have committed the offence in the first place and if they did, the likely would have turned up to court for their scheduled hearing.

What happens then? You ask them to hand themselves in and they don't so the charges just disappear? What a great precedent to set. Commit any crimes you want and don't rock up to court and you'll never have to face any consequences.

Don't get me wrong, it's never good when someone dies at the hands of police or any other person for that matter. But the reality is, these people are putting themselves in this situation. There needs to be some change (perhaps culturally where parents and families actually take some accountability and responsibility for one another) but what has been suggested is absolutely not it.
