What do you think Of Jeffery Dahmer?

What do you think Of Jeffery Dahmer?

I'm not a fan.

Should he have been sent to a mental hospital instead of prison?

Probably not?

I'll be honest, I'm a bit ignorant here... I'm vaguely aware of his crimes but that's about it.

I generally think of a mental hospital as a place where you go to be treated. To get "fixed" for lack of a better word. I don't think of a hospital as a place where you confine somebody indefinitely just to get them out of the way.

If we're talking about a person who's murdered a dozen people, we're talking about removing them from society. Locking them up where they can do no further harm. That's not really a hospital's job. That's a prison's job.

Now... Maybe you need a well-equipped prison to deal with somebody like Jeffery Dahmer? Maybe you need a psychiatrist or pharmacist or nurses or something on staff? But I don't think we should be warehousing criminals in hospitals.

Should we give "the gift of mercy" to lifers who ask for it, like Jeffery?

What do you think of his death?

Again, I have to plead ignorance here. I don't know what the "gift of mercy" is. And I don't know how he died.
