Is it time to get politics and charitable causes out of sports?

a. No I'm not suggesting legally forcing anything. Thats silly.

b. Marketing doesn't lead societal trends, it capitalizes on them.

Last week Ivan Provorov of the Phi Flyers was dragged across social media for not participating in warmups where he would've been required to wear a pride themed jersey. Afterwards, the entire NY Rangers team decided to forego wearing pride jerseys to protect their teammats who weren't on board.

Let's be honest. Most athletes are dumb. By and large they're not people we should be looking to for thought leadership on societal issues. For every Colin Kaepernick there are 50 Kyrie Irvings.

And second, there are many people in the world who may not be allies to a cause, but also don't actively fight against those causes either. Some people just want to stay out of it and that's fine, yet we choose to rake these people bc they're easy targets.
