Hey, remember when Boise State beat Oklahoma in the Fiesta Bowl?

  • Like I explained last week, Iowa being excluded was partly oversight, partly anti-Iowa bias (mostly oversight). I have them in at 19 here, which is probably too low, but I wasn’t sure where to slot them in. I want to see them beat a good team first before they jump into the top 15 by way other than surviving.
  • Clemson dropped a bunch here. Probably overreaction, but something is up with them and they really aren’t doing much of anything right now other than not losing. Yeah, they beat Auburn in Jordan-Hare, but took a few blind strokes of luck to pull that off. They’re likely to jump back into the top 4 in 2/3 weeks but let’s punish them for the time being.
  • I’m a big fan of incremental increases, and my polls are going to be somewhat sticky (which I know people hate). I’ll definitely reward (or punish) a great or terrible performance, respectively, but at least this week, there wasn’t a whole lot of reason to move teams drastically.
  • For Utah and Boise State fans, I know it hurts to drop out when you won, but I think TCU deserved to remain in the top 25 and someone had to get bumped to replace Iowa and Arkansas. Also, I’m not super excited to replace anyone else with TCU right now, so that helped their cause.
  • There’s probably no good reason I have your team too low or too high, so ask me about it and I’ll almost certainly just say “yeah, you’re right, my bad”. I say probably, because I’m still human and hold grudges.
  • Fuck Notre Dame.
