But there's no defined rules to follow on it.

I think it should be down to record, then tie breakers are conference championship wins. A close loss in a conference championship shouldn't count against you, but a blow out has to.

So for instance, USC should be out but TCU shouldn't slip at all, due to someone lower ranked taking the 4 spot.

I understand my flair of OSU makes this feel biased( I want osu in, but I wouldn't be upset if they and Bama were overlooked due to previous match ups agaisnt the 1 and 2 spots and lack of representation in conferences elsewhere).

I hate the conference rematches in the playoffs, I think it would limit viewership, but with the records on the field this year, not too many teams are really in contention to be in.
