How bad would it look leaving a job in less than a year due to mental health?

You took a risk, a reasonable one - good! That takes courage and you made it. Fair enough, things didn’t turn out quite as planned.

So, what’s keeping you from meeting people there?

Let’s be clear about a few things: health is everything. Your boss, your job - all that never gets even close. Everything you are and everything you do will rise and fall with your health. Don’t live someone else’s life, no one will give it back to you.

Your resume will not be destroyed by either decision. Let’s imagine a job interview:

Candidate 1 has a flawless resume. Great!

Candidate 2 has a setback that gets addressed in the conversation. He says, that he started with great hope and motivation, but his decision turned out to be a mistake. Knowing that health and passion are part of a fulfilling life, he decided to make another change, because in order to be great at the job, every pillar of life must be solid.

You see, if your resume has 10 mistakes it becomes a problem. If your resume has 1 mistake that you not only mention honestly, but also show to express maturity in your attitude, great! How you handle these setbacks, that’s where you see a winners quality. Not having setbacks is an unrealistic goal.

But again...what’s impossible about meeting people? Try ebay locals, say you’re new in town, for example.
