How did the human race (homo sapiens) come to be ?

Hence why I brought up its similarity to greek fire. We know that it exists, but what causes it to exist, the process needed for it to exist, is unknown. For life, we don't even know what factors caused a bunch of macromolecules to just start self-replicating, just that it happened for some reason and we aren't even sure if it can be tested with current technology. It is entirely within our ability to recreate the concrete and fire if more primitive people did it in the past, which makes theories about them much more sound. Until we are able to make actual life from non-life, or at the very least observe it, not just some building blocks of the building blocks, or bubbles made of lipids, it makes little sense to rely on it so much.
