How did you manage working for a boss you didn't respect or trust?

I'm still getting over the job in which I was the middle manager trying to protect my team from a tyrannical GM who was gaslighting & pissing on all of us like a North Korean dictator to push profits at the expense of everybody's mental health. Some of the weakest & most abusive management I've ever seen & I guess the guy is still teacher's pet to the CEO. Dream job on paper with a dream salary, but I lasted less than a month because I wasn't the spineless sycophant he was looking for.

It's a broken system when those hungriest for power over others are the ones who have the most. It's a game of thrones kinda world we live in, it seems.
