Interview ended with “ we have internal applicants for this role too, hr will contact you with next steps if we decide to move ahead”. Does this basically mean ‘hell naw, you’re not a good fit’?

Hey there, sorry to hear that you're not sure what to make of that comment at the end of your interview. It's definitely a bit of a vague response, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you're out of the running.

In my experience, companies often like to consider internal candidates first, but that doesn't mean they won't also consider external candidates like yourself. It's also possible that they haven't made a decision yet and need to review all the applicants before moving forward.

Either way, try not to stress too much about it. Keep applying to other positions and honing your interviewing skills, but also don't hesitate to follow up with HR to get a better sense of where things stand
