How did you meet your SO? Was meeting them due to relentlessly dating people, or was it something out of your control?

We hung out on the same sub. First we sent a couple of PMs. Then we exchanged a few emails, which turned into our life stories, our past relationships, sexual hangups, and then a contest to see who could get who more uncomfortably aroused at their family's Christmas dinner. We started texting and Skyped a few times (luckily neither of us is ugly!). By that point we were basically dating. We started talking on the phone. I'd call him after work and we'd talk for hours, every day. I made him fly out to my city and get a hotel before we considered it official -- I'd been on enough normal online dates to know there's never a guarantee of IRL chemistry. But we liked each other right away. I took him to a local dive and we were so busy staring at each other that my friends, who happened to show up at the same bar, apparently spent 10 minutes dancing around behind him and waving at me to get my attention because they were super excited to have accidentally crashed my date, but neither he nor I noticed. We were just totally engrossed by each other. It was surreal. The weirdest part was how normal it felt despite how crazy it is to have someone fly 3,000 to meet an Internet stranger. We went back to his hotel and did sex stuff. It was awesome. We're approaching 2 years now, still long distance, which kind of sucks.
