Bingo. There are several articles out now restating this. As you said, early reports said genealogy and then quieted after the affidavit came out. It was reported to be the fastest genealogy report they've done. So the chicken came before the egg in the evidence. They had the DNA match, then vehicle matched, phone, eyebrows, weirdo factor, etc. I think they released the car info because the public did a great job of finding it in cameras around town, and they had to release something because of all of the heat they were facing, so put out the request to find the car, although they already had the guy! It is said to be an incarcerated Uncle who created the match, but that is hearsay.
