How we experience Portland.

Moved here from Eugene a year a half ago. Been visiting regularly or working remotely in Portland for the last decade though. It's been interesting to see the changes while not actually living in the city during that time. I'm all for the city growing, but I do wish some of it was done in a more mindful way to help preserve that Portland feel that made it so popular in the first place.

That said, I love it here. So much more to do, lots of cool art, great restaurants, and it's easy to escape the city and enjoy the great outdoors. The people are less friendly than a smaller town like Eugene, but I've still met a lot of cool people here.

I've lived in SW, NW, and now recently the inner SE. Love the Eastside so much more. While there are parts of NW and the Pearl I really enjoy I generally don't enjoy the people who frequent those parts of the city. SW just felt too cut off from the rest of the city and not like I was actually living in Portland.

Biggest complaint is that I've been pretty disappointed in the dating pool. Seems like every girl I meet is either totally all about the outdoors and nothing else or completely obsessed with brunch, drinks, whats the "cool" new bar/restaurant. I would kill to find someone who enjoys a healthy balance of both.
