Advice here: If you want to make friends, stop trying to make friends.
What do I mean by that??
First, you need to understand that you're not the center of the world. You really don't matter to 99.9999999% of people. Now that sounds pretty harsh, but it's true. People tend to gravitate to people that can provide them with something. Do you really provide anyone with anything while you're on drugs?? Probably not anything substantial.. Now, I'm not saying "Don't do DRUGS" because, I fuck with drugs, and I love them. The more I try drugs the more i realized I was completely lied to as a child. TBH, my dumbass can't even get addicted to my ADHD medicine and I continue to suck and taking it every day, even though it turns my day completely around, so talk about a total failure there.. Anyway, back on track. Here's the secret that nobody tells you. It's all about Hobbies.
That's right!! Get a hobby that you're comfortable doing alone and friends will generally come. Make it something you're confident in and focus on talking about the hobby rather than talking about anything friendship related. Friendship comes with time.
Why a hobby?
1. People like having people to do an activity with.
2. when you pick a specific hobby and do it in PUBLIC, you suddenly niche down and instead of you trying to find people that you probably have nothing in common with and never will. People will come find you, and essentially insert themselves into your life. Essentially, if they want to do that activity, they will probably contact you.
BUT u/Alone-Community-279 they have sooo many other friends. DUH, that's why you niche down. Mr. Perfect might have tons and tons of friends, but does he have tons of friends in your specific activity. Think about it.
Don't have a dog and can't afford one? yeah, they are expensive and take a lot of responsibility. In the world of online, you can make friends almost anywhere. Make some hobby specific posts on social media and see if someone bites. You never know where it will lead. When facing something with low probability, take a lot of chances and focus all your time on the winners.
You're fishing in a sense. You're casting a wide net with your hobby and trying to funnel down anyone that sees you into a new group of potential friends.
