I used to always run into this problem especially with my old best friend who I was friends with for 8 years and recently just cut her off a year ago.

It sounds like me and you were born in similar households. You always offer to pay the bill, have it turn into a little argument if it has to because that’s how I was brought up. Mind you I am not rich by any means.

It’s truly the smallest things that show respect. It’s funny because my parents always hated this “best friend” I had; (I use quotations because she actually was backstabbing me in many ways throughout our whole friendship and I was too young and naive to see and admit it.) Yet — every single time she came over to my house my parents always went out of their way to say give her water, offer her this, etc etc.

I remember so significantly this one time I was over at her house, (her parents were always so rude, barely even acknowledged me when I would walk in and say hi, always just seemed like I was some sort of inconvenience) her parents prepared a meal. My friend at the time knew I was hungry because I had told her before we had gotten to her house, and she started eating her home cooked meal right in front of me and didn’t offer me a plate. We have to go through the kitchen to go through her room, and let me tell you they had hella food. They were a family of 4 and it was well over that.

It’s the small things that show that some people have no manners at all.
