In general, the entire system is set up against us. It's harder for Asian Americans to get into good schools or jobs because affirmative action isn't applied to us, despite only being < 5% of the population.
An Asian person needs to work twice as hard as a white person to get the same position.
The bamboo ceiling is real and it's very rare to see Asian managers or executives in White owned companies (basically all companies). There's been a study that shows Americans hate seeing assertive or aggressive Asians because white people find it threatening to have Asian leaders.
Asians are often victims of attacks and bullying, yet courts refuse to label them as hate crimes. Here's a recent example: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murders_of_Ming_Qu_and_Ying_Wu
It's even been backed up by studies that Asian students are the most bullied compared to all other groups.
It's perfectly acceptable in western society to say racist things about Asians, but not any other groups. Celebrities like Bill Maher, Seth macfarlane, mark Wahlberg, etc...have all gotten away with saying shit about Asians that sound like the kkk, yet they're celebrated by the mainstream.
Not to mention the severe lack of Asian Americans in politics - you don't need a study to see that.
The lack of media presence is also troubling and we are never presented in a humane way on film. Our characters are never multi dimensional or sympathetic. We don't have our own Denzel Washington or Beyonce or J. Lo.
For men: the media constantly demonizes and emasculates Asian men, always portraying us as dickless nerds or unfeeling robotic villains.
Asian men, along with black women, also have the hardest time in the dating pool. This is sexual discrimination based on race: techland.time.com/2013/11/26/dating-app-reveals-troubling-racial-preferences/
For Women: Asian women are the most fetishized and objectived group in the the country. They are often targeted by creepy non-Asian guys for their race and expected to chase White dick.
Asian women out marry more than any other group and some of them are downright racist against Asian men and self-hating.
Asian women are also hated on when they try and rock the boat or are in power positions, like with Ellen Pao.
