AITA(33M) for wanting to take a break from my parents (68M&70F). They told me that they've secretly been disappointed with me for a long time.

NTA. Holy shit you sound like my dad! My grandmother was so upset he "quit law" when in reality he was massively depressed not being able to see his family and constantly give people horrible news working in that profession. He loves working with his hands, and let me tell you I had a GREAT childhood. My dad having his own business meant he could be at home on time every day for dinner, it meant he got to take time off for school events and take me to doctors appointments if mom couldn't (or if I just wanted dad, he was better with shots!). I'll bet your kids love you because you're you, and that lawyer was taking a low blow at people who work hard to create something that at the end of the day, makes everyone happy. I'm blown away by your success. Thanks for making me think of how proud I am of my dad too.
